The owner, Juliette Goodwin, conceptualized this with two main ideas.

1) Being relatively new to the area, she was a bit disappointed in the lack of variety for retail therapy.  (Probably a bit spoiled from her East coast upbringing) After many interviews with friends (some new transplants, some born and bred here), this sentiment was felt by others as well.  Too many women were going out of town for their purchases... Chicago, Vegas, online.  What's a girl to do? How about open a store and keep that business right here in Traverse City.

2) All of her favorite shopping companions vary in some way... either size (some smaller, some larger), age (some younger, some older) or budgets (some higher, some lower). Have you ever noticed how hard it is for a size 2 and a size 14 to shop in the same store? Or what about someone who cleaned out her penny jar and someone with her tax refund? Aside from the stepford wives, women vary and we pick our friends based on compatibility not shoe size right? Julie found that on any given shopping excursion, it can be easy for women to be uncomfortable or intimidated shopping in an environment catering only to a particular demographic... SO why not cater to all women! A place where a mom and a daughter can shop together!  Where a comfortably curvy woman and her high metabolism friend can BOTH find something!
